Day 29 – Love Actually

29 Feb

Love Actually: Meet for dinner with others who are doing the 29days of love who are around you (It’s well deserved!).

1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Becky Jibo’s Experience :-)

28 Feb

Hiya!

So we haven’t done a real life experience feature in ages *naughty naughty*.. But we hope that in the following days, we will be able to post the experiences and testimonies of people who committed to doing the 29days of love (One more day left! *sad face*).. If you have something to share, please do, we would be delighted to hear from you!

Please read Becky’s tale of how the month has been for her. Interestingly, a lot of the things she said ring so true and I can definitely identify with them. All in all, I have to borrow the lyrics of D’banj to say “Don’t get it twisted; LOVE is a beautiful thing… Hard work but a beautiful thing nonetheless :-) xx

Becky says:

It has been an awesome experience having to play the role of love in the whole month. I will plead with every one of us to make this ACT a part of our lives, it’s actually a fulfilling experience to show love and be loved in return. I’m sure we all know the feeling we get when one appreciates us, your looks, your hair, send some touching messages, encourages us, some of these come exactly when we need them (in the nick of time). We know these LARGE GRIN we get in return when we greet cashiers at the till, workers on the street, you appreciate conductors on the bus, taxi drivers, using the words PLEASE, THANK You and we get this compliment(her parents trained her well) unknown to them, I’m practicing the LOVE Month exercise.

One of the beautiful experiences I had was paying for someone’s fare from Kaduna to Zaria, the guy had no money on him, he explained to d drivers at the Park, and he was asked to sit in the trunk (A place for luggage in a car) No way! The guy almost cursed me in blessing me. I appreciate God that I was able to bless someone. I had the opportunity of encouraging people and getting encouragement back, which gives me this deep sense of appreciation and sending LOVE down my spine, the whole thing makes me wonder how GOD Almighty on his throne feels when we appreciate him for the beautiful life he has given to us, the great heart to practice this LOVE and the lovely fingers to type out my experience… It has been a fulfilling one for me I must say… Thank you all for this opportunity.

No outing yet… but wrote the handwritten letters which brings back the whole old school days, sending a letter to a friend (sent it through a driver at the park cause of our postage system in Nigeria) and the person is dazed… “Oh BECKY you always have a way of bringing smiles to our faces”… And it also brings smiles to me, as I have been able to bless people… Days I received calls and I’m moved to tears (friend who have forgotten one, and they say I just felt like saying hello and to know how you are doing) the list goes on and on…..

Thank you all for reading.

BMJ xx
